PREVENTATIVE CARE
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” – Benjamin Franklin
We know you love your pet(s) – they’re members of the family! – and our veterinary team is committed to helping you keep them healthy and happy for as long as possible. Some of the preventative care services we offer include:
Preventative Care Exams and Consultations
Keeping your pet healthy is about more than just having them examined when they get sick! Our preventative care exams and consultations allow our team to take a holistic approach to your pet by taking a comprehensive look at their overall health, medical management, early signs/symptoms of disease and provide you with information and guidance about…
- Diet and Weight Management
- Management/Prevention of Dental Disease
- Behavioral Problem(s), Socialization and Training
Vaccinations
For some diseases, vaccines are the most effective tool for preventing serious illness. Some vaccines for dogs and cats are considered “core” to both individual and population health. Other vaccines may be recommended based on an individual pet’s lifestyle and risk of exposure. Our veterinary team will help guide you through understanding what vaccines will provide your pet with the most prudent and effective protection.

Parasite Screening and Prevention
Some are a nuisance, some cause severe disease, but one thing is always true – nobody enjoys parasites! Some parasites are also zoonotic – meaning they can be transmitted from pets to people. Our veterinary team will help you to understand the parasites in our area, how we can detect them and either treat or – even better – prevent them. Some common parasites in our area include:
- Intestinal parasites (roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, tapeworms, coccidia, giardia)
- Heartworm
- Fleas
- Ticks (who also carry tick-borne diseases!)
